Spicy Prawns Roast is one of every Malayalee’s favourite. Prawn roasted in Indian spices and we Malayalees love making all our dishes in coconut oil, which gives a unique flavour. But not necessarily it is liked by everyone.

 

And ofcourse, all our roasted recipes will have some coconut chunks, which I love crunching on! Here, I didn’t add, but you should definitely try adding it. Hoping that you will try this recipe for sure and tell me your experiance by commenting down below.

So, here it goes..

How to make Chammeen roast with step by step photos:

      1.   Clean the prawns by making sure no outer shell is present. Devein each prawn.
     
      2.  Heat oil. fry crushed ginger and garlic for few seconds. Add sliced onion and saute till translucent. 

  1. 3. Add slit chillies and masala powders and fry for few seconds.

4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till mushy. You will see oil separated from the masalas. At this point add the washed prawns. Mix well till the prawns are well coated.

5. Add curry leaves. Cover and cook till the water evaporates completely. Finally add garam masala and cook for another 8-10 minutes till its nice dry and roasted. Add more oil if needed.

 

Note :

You can also marinate the prawns beforehand with ginger garlic paste and all the dry masala powders.

 

Prawns Roast Recipe

 

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Measurements used:1 cup = 250 ml; 1 tbsp = 15 ml; 1 tsp = 5 ml

Ingredients:

500 gms prawns, boil 5 mins and drain

 

4-5 tbsp oil

 

4 big cloves of garlic 

 

1 tbsp crushed ginger till smells

 

3 big onion sliced till brown

 

2 grn chilly, slit

 

1 tsp haldi

 

1 tbsp coriander powder

 

1.5 tsp kashmiri chilly powder

 

1 tsp pepper pwd

 

1/2 tsp chilly powder

 

1.5 tsp salt

 

1 cup heaped chopped tomatoes till half mushy

 

curry leaves

 

1/2 tsp garam masala
